Alaska
Our salmon comes from the waters off the coast of Alaska, and is caught according to the strict laws of the State of Alaska. Supervision of the fish stocks is consistently monitored by the State, too; the laws and regulations control the following fishery aspects:
- The salmon are caught off the coast on the high sea. It must be guaranteed that following each catch, sufficient fish reach the rivers for spawning. This is supervised exactly.
- The numbers of boats licensed is strictly limited, and this is also closely supervised by the State.
- The fishing equipment and fishing methods are so prescribed that marine mammals and birds are not caught by mistake
The catch is matched annually to the natural conditions.
All Alaska salmon live in their natural habitat. Farmed salmon are not permitted in Alaska in order to prevent contamination of the genetic base of this wild resource.
